Layout at Chichester event 21st October 2006 To the best of our knowledge, our exhibitions are not like any other that you can see in Sussex. Unlike most model railway exhibitions where the emphasis is on scenic layouts and on scratch or kit built trains, we focus on the trains themselves, ready to run trains of any make, gauge or age, whilst scenic effects are largely confined to accessories manufactured to go with these trains.
There are usually ten or more layouts and displays featuring famous old favourites such as Hornby Trains, Hornby Dublo, Trix and Triang, along with more recent products that you can buy today. We also enjoy the support of eight well established traders with tempting stocks of collectable second hand model and toy trains and other railway related items. Visitors usually stay a long time, taking in some refreshments too that are always available.

These pictures here were of our layout as exhibited in Chichester on the 21st October 2006

Visitors who are train collectors themselves see interesting collections to compare with their own, & can chat with our friendly and knowledgeable members, and often depart with some goodies purchased from one of our traders. At our annual exhibitions, itís an opportunity to join our club too. Railway modellers of the more generally understood kind will probably be reminded of how they got into the hobby, and they too go away with purchases from our traders. In fact anyone with an interest in railways will like our shows too. Visitors see some of the many ways in which manufacturers have capitalised on this mode of transport that fascinates so many, and are likely reminded of the toy and model trains they had when they were young. Station in layout at Chichester event 21st October 2006 And what about todayís children? Even now when there is so much to compete for their attention, a surprising number are still fascinated by railways of all sizes. They may quickly lose interest in the most splendid of scenic layouts, however, if not much seems to be happening, as is often the case. Not so, our layouts where you will see colourful and sometimes rather noisy trains constantly on the move. So itís an excellent venue for a family outing.

Getting there; Find a Map here! Knoyle Hall is on the South side of Knoyle Road, a turning off the A23 a little to the north of Preston Park. Buses stop nearby and it is a short walk from Preston Park station. It is still possible at present to park at the roadside in the vicinity.
In addition to this, our own once a year exhibition, we also take part in a few other exhibitions, such as Brighton Modelworld.
If youíd like to help run an exhibition layout, you will certainly get an opportunity.
